Overview Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position is responsible for the design, programming, and deployment of industrial control systems, including control panels, PLC/HMI/SCADA programming, and automation architecture. The role includes hands-on support for system commissioning at customer sites and integration of IoT/IIoT technologies for remote monitoring, data logging, and analytics in smart manufacturing environments.
Primary Duties • Engineering/Technical Responsibilities • Prepare, review, and approve drawings, bills of materials, and other engineering documentations. • Review and interpret project specifications, engineering codes, and standards to ensure compliance during all phases of the design and manufacturing process. • Issue technical documents and drawing packages for the manufacture of products. • Provide engineering and technical support to Internal (Sales, Production, Purchasing, and Quality departments) and external clients. • Participate in client meetings, kick-off meetings, design review meetings, operation meetings • Ensure that all
electrical control panels meet regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and internal quality standards. • Control Panel Design • Design and specify industrial control panels compliant with UL 508A, CSA C22.2, and NFPA 79 standards. • Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, I/O lists, and BOMs using CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, SEE Electrical, EPLAN). • Select and size electrical components (breakers, contactors, PLCs, VFDs, safety relays, etc.) for process equipment. • Collaborate with manufacturing for panel build, conduct FAT, and support documentation control. • Automation and Programming • Develop PLC
programs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, etc.) and HMI applications to control industrial systems. • Implement control logic for process sequences, alarms, interlocks, and safety shutdown systems. • Configure industrial networks including EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA, etc. • Integrate VFDs, soft starters, instrumentation (RTDs, thermocouples, pressure/flow transmitters), and actuators. • Site Installation & Commissioning • Participate in on-site commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of control systems and automation equipment. • Verify wiring, perform I/O checks, test interlocks, and validate control sequencesagainst functional requirements. • Provide technical support during site acceptance testing (SAT) and customer handover. • IoT / IIoT Integration • Integrate control systems with edge devices, gateways, and cloud platforms for real-time data access and analytics.
