Position Overview

As an Electrical Designer, you will play a key role in supporting the development of electrical designs for facilities in the energy sector. This role provides guidance on producing and updating drawings such as single line diagrams, MCC layouts, cable schedules, control panel schematics, while ensuring compliance with company and client standards.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, technical environment and understands how this role fuels business performance, innovation, and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist technical staff with complex projects, following established engineering and drafting practices
  • Assist in producing discipline-specific drawings, including electrical plot plans, hazardous area drawings, single line diagrams, PLC/MCC/control panel layouts, instrument locations, junction box terminations, and wiring schematics
  • Plot drawings, back-draft from check prints/markups, and assist in developing drafting standards
  • Perform routine calculations, material take-offs (MTO), and bills of materials (BOM) for commodity items 
  • Attend design meetings and follow client and Solaris drafting standards, checking procedures, and document control protocols
  • File and manage documents and drawings accurately
  • Follow all health and safety policies and report directly to a senior designer


Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 1–2 years of experience in electrical design for industrial or utility projects
  • Basic familiarity with AutoCAD and ability to perform 2D drafting, and 3D models 
  • Proficiency with digital collaborative software (Revu, MS Teams, etc.)
  • Interest in the natural gas, LNG and alternative energy industry is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to follow established engineering practices 
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively under direction

Compensation

The salary for this role is based on an average of 37.5 hours a week. The estimated range is between 60,000-70,000 annually, depending on skills and experience.
