La technologie ELYSIS™ représente la plus grande avancée dans l’industrie de l’aluminium depuis 1886. Des efforts sont présentement déployés afin de perfectionner cette nouvelle façon révolutionnaire de produire de l’aluminium, qui élimine le dioxyde de carbone et toutes les autres émissions de gaz à effet de serre du procédé conventionnel d’électrolyse.

Le procédé ELYSIS élimine l’utilisation d’anodes de carbone, en les remplaçant par des matériaux brevetés. En tant que premier procédé industriel qui émet de l’oxygène comme sous-produit, il a le potentiel de transformer toute l’industrie.

En 2018, deux producteurs d’aluminium de calibre international, Alcoa et Rio Tinto, ont uni leurs forces afin de créer la coentreprise ELYSIS avec le gouvernement du Québec. Bénéficiant du soutien du gouvernement du Canada et d’Apple, la technologie progresse et elle est actuellement conçue pour être utilisée aussi bien dans des projets de construction que de modernisation d’alumineries. ELYSIS a son siège social à Montréal, avec des centres de recherche et de développement à Alma et à Jonquière, au Québec (Canada), ainsi qu’à New Kensington, en Pennsylvanie (États-Unis) et en France.

Du métal de qualité commerciale produit par ELYSIS dans nos installations R&D et au centre de développement industriel est déjà utilisé par Apple dans un éventail de produits (comme le MacBook Pro 16 po et l’iPhone SE), par AB InBev (canettes) et par Audi (roues du e-tron GT, fabriqués par le RONAL Group).

À propos du poste

Nous recherchons un ingénieur sénior en contrôle et automatisation pour rejoindre notre équipe dédiée de l’industrialisation de production d’électrode, un élément clé de la technologie innovante ELYSIS. Dans ce rôle, vous agirez à titre d’expert en automatisation pour orienter la conception, l’implantation, la qualification et l’optimisation des systèmes automatisés. Vous collaborerez étroitement avec les équipes de production, de maintenance ainsi qu’avec les fournisseurs afin de concevoir des solutions novatrices visant à accroître l’efficacité, la précision et la sécurité des procédés manufacturiers. Votre expertise sera mise à profit lors des revues de conception et des analyses de risques, contribuant ainsi à la robustesse et à la fiabilité des systèmes développés. Ce poste représente une occasion unique de vous investir dans un environnement technologique de pointe et de jouer un rôle stratégique dans la réalisation de projets industriels d’envergure.

Principales activités et responsabilités

• Être un acteur proactif dans la gestion des aspects Santé Sécurité Environnement (SSE)
• Diriger l’industrialisation des aspects automatisés des procédés impliqués dans la fabrication des électrodes ELYSIS.
• Coacher l’équipe sur les bases et les bonnes pratiques du contrôle et de l’automatisation.
• Gérer des projets impliquant des firmes d’ingénierie, des fournisseurs d’équipements, des intégrateurs de systèmes et des installateurs afin d’assurer la mise en service et le bon fonctionnement des équipements selon les spécifications.
• Concevoir les descriptions fonctionnelles détaillant les exigences des systèmes d’automatisation et les distribuer aux fournisseurs.
• Recommander des modifications de procédures, de conception et d’intégration de technologies.
• Développer du matériel technique et faciliter des séances de formations auprès des pairs.
• Travailler en étroite collaboration avec les ingénieurs mécaniques, électriques et en automatisation des équipes de conception ELYSIS afin d’assurer une intégration harmonieuse des équipements dans l’usine et avec les autres équipements de procédé.
• Participer aux tests d’acceptation en usine (FAT) et sur site (SAT/POV) aux États-Unis, au Canada et en Europe pour s’assurer que les systèmes sont développés et installés conformément aux spécifications d’origine.
• Se tenir informé des nouvelles technologies en automatisation (IIoT, Industrie 4.0, AI).
• Rechercher de manière proactive des opportunités d’innovation et d’amélioration dans la conception des systèmes de contrôle, les procédés et les méthodologies.
• Collaborer avec l’équipe mondiale ELYSIS située aux États-Unis et en France.

À propos de vous

Pour que votre candidature soit prise en considération, les exigences sont les suivantes :

Scolarité 

• Baccalauréat en génie électrique, génie de la production automatisée ou dans une discipline connexe.
• Être membre en règle de l’ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.

Expériences

• Expérience significative comme ingénieur de terrain et/ou support production en contrôle et automatisation.
• Expérience significative en conception et à la mise en service de machines spéciales et/ou machines-outils.
• Expérience en conception et mise en service de ligne d’assemblage.
• Avoir de l’expérience en robotique (atout).
• Avoir œuvré dans un environnement industriel.
• Avoir œuvré dans des environnements métallurgiques (atout).

Compétences :

• Maîtrise de documents d’ingénierie :
  • Conception: DF, STS, Cahier des charges, Analyse fonctionnelle, Analyse de risque
  • Programmation : Diagrammes de séquences, Arborescences de programme
  • Schéma électrique de puissance et de commande
  • Schéma d’armoire de contrôle

New Era for the Aluminium Industry — ELYSIS 

Carbon Free Aluminium 

The ELYSIS™ technology is the greatest breakthrough in the aluminium industry since its beginnings in 1886. Work is underway now to further develop this revolutionary new way to produce aluminium, eliminating carbon dioxide and all other greenhouse gas emissions from the traditional smelting process. 

The ELYSIS process eliminates the use of carbon anodes, replacing those with proprietary materials. It is the first industrial process that emits oxygen as its by-product and has the potential to transform an entire industry. 

In 2018, two international aluminium producers, Alcoa and Rio Tinto, came together to form the ELYSIS joint venture with the provincial government of Québec. With support from the Canadian Government and Apple, the technology is progressing and is currently being designed to support the construction of new smelters or retrofits. 

ELYSIS is headquartered in Montréal, with Technology Research & Development locations in Alma, Québec, (Canada), in Jonquière, Québec, (Canada), in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, (United States), and in France. 

Commercial quality metal produced by ELYSIS in our R&D facilities and industrial development center is already being used by Apple in a variety of products (The 16-inch MacBook Pro and the iPhone SE); Ab InBEV (cans) and Audi (e-tron GT wheels produced by the RONAL Group).

About the position 

We are looking for an engineer to support the team in the industrialization of electrode production equipment. Working closely with the project engineer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development, writing, and implementation of technical testing protocols, define and analyze the operation of cutting-edge production equipment, participate in and influence design reviews and risk analysis activities, as well as lead the commissioning and start-up of unique equipment. This position offers a unique opportunity to be involved in a high-tech environment and play a key role in the success of ambitious industrial projects.

Key Activities / Responsibilities : 

• Be a proactive contributor in managing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) aspects.
• Lead the industrialization of the automated processes involved in the manufacturing of ELYSIS electrodes.
• Coach the team on the fundamentals and best practices of control and automation.
• Manage projects involving engineering firms, equipment suppliers, system integrators, and installers to ensure commissioning and proper functioning of equipment according to specifications.
• Design functional specifications detailing automation system requirements and distribute them to suppliers.
• Recommend changes to procedures, design, and technology integration.
• Develop technical documentation and facilitate training sessions for peers.
• Develop, write, and implement testing protocols for production equipment.
• Work closely with ELYSIS mechanical, electrical, and automation engineers to ensure seamless integration of equipment within the plant and with other process systems.
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests / Point of Verification (SAT/POV) in the United States, Canada, and Europe to ensure systems are developed and installed according to original specifications.
• Stay informed about new automation technologies (IIoT, Industry 4.0, AI).
• Proactively seek opportunities for innovation and improvement in control system design, processes, and methodologies.
• Collaborate with the global ELYSIS team located in the United States and France.

About you 

To be considered for this position, the following qualifications are required:

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automated Production Engineering, or a related field.

• Must be a member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).

Experience

• Significant experience as a field engineer and/or in production support in control and automation.
• Strong experience in the design and commissioning of special-purpose machines and/or machine tools.
• Experience in the design and commissioning of assembly lines.
• Experience in robotics (an asset).
• Experience working in an industrial environment.
• Experience in metallurgical environments (an asset).

Skills

• Mastery of engineering documentation, including:
  • Design: Design Files (DF), Technical Specifications (STS), Requirement Specifications, Functional Analysis, Risk Analysis
  • Programming: Sequence Diagrams, Program Trees
  • Electrical Schematics: Power and Control Diagrams
  • Control Panel Schematics
  • I/O Lists, Bill of Materials (BOM)
