What you will do
Johnson Controls is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician! In this role, you will perform engineering support activities including hands on construction and testing for the development of new or modified components or products and troubleshoot electrical device problems to ensure that issues are resolved efficiently. This position is onsite at our Advanced Development and Engineering facility in New Freedom, PA. Candidates must be commuting distance to the facility.
How you will do it
Under direction and guidance of supervisor and senior technicians, provide technical support to and communication among the Prototype Build and Test team to assist in efficient execution of building and testing Variable Speed Drives and associated test fixtures. Design fabricate or arrange for fabrication and testing of parts, components and sub-systems Collect and analyze data, e.g., test data, cost data Prepare complex and non-standard sketches and drawings and prepare design documents Review and mark drawings to support drafting and design documents Perform routine system and component calculations, selections and write specifications Coordinate between customers and other departments to design, build and test component systems Lead tasks within a project Troubleshoot nonconforming systems and components for manufacturing, service, test lab, etc and make recommendations Perform tests and write test procedures Provide limited technical guidance and assistance to operators as necessary to complete and coordinate activities Provide and exchange technical information to vendors, customers and inspectors for assigned products and components Order, receive, and deliver equipment and information using company procedures Follow codes and procedures related to job Provide training to others in areas of technical and practical knowledge Communicate technical information in written, verbal, and graphical form in a clear and precise manner Follow, and participate in creation of standard procedures, test Standards, test procedures, and processes. Adhere to the Company’s Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards
What we look for
AS degree in engineering science (EE, EET preferred) and a minimum of 2 years direct work experience with electronic instrumentation, including DVMs, power analyzers and oscilloscopes is required. Other relevant education, or a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered. Experience working with three phase power from 380V to 600V. Experience troubleshooting basic electronic circuits Experience using various hand tools for fabrication of electronic/power assemblies and subassemblies. Experience using various hand crimp tools for fabrication of wire harnesses is preferred. Experience soldering and removing both thru-hole and surface mount components at PCB level.
