Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer at our Calgary and Edmonton office to join our Canada Projects team due to growth in our business within Oil and Gas!

ResponsibilitiesTypical responsibilities:
- Assures compliance with Engineering Procedures and quality control standards
- Interfacing with various engineering disciplines and suppliers.
- Project Execution may include but not limited to:
- Work independently and provide mentorship/guidance to less experienced team members
- Provide I&C input to P&ID’s
- Prepare, review, and sign/stamp control deliverables such as Control Philosophy, Control Narrative, Cause and Effect diagram, and Control system architecture
- Development of Material take offs (MTO’s)
- Development/QC of Instrument Loop diagrams as well as control cabinet design / wiring
- Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL reviews
- Selection and procurement of controls hardware (DCS/PLC/FGS)
- Preparing Material Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations and award recommendations
- Preparation and review of various I&C lists (I/O list, I/O assignments, Load list, etc)
- Thorough understanding of communications and network systems
- Have frequent contact with vendors, and internal staff

Expected:
- Bachelors in Science, Engineering from an accredited University or College.
- Minimum of 6 + yrs. Industry experience
- Good understanding and familiarity of API, ASME and CSA, codes and directives.
- Existing experience in the Oil and Gas sector is preferred
- Ability to problem-solve effectively
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in the use of Smart Plant Instrumentation is an asset.
- Registration through APEGA an asset.
