Job Type: Spring/Summer Co-op

Compensation: $21 - $25

The Position:

The Mechanical Engineering Support Co-op will work directly with the Mechanical Engineering Manager to assist in delivering standards, procedures, efficiency tools and strategic initiatives. The incumbent will work with Engineering staff to deliver the Eclipse Vision and the Eclipse Entrepreneurial Culture.

 

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Analyze existing engineering workflows and create relevant procedures or work instructions
  • Create process flow maps related to engineering processes
  • Create instruction videos or documents for mechanical and controls engineering processes
  • Analyze engineering data and identify areas for design-reuse
  • Produce working drawings, detail drawings and bills of materials for designs, sub-assemblies or products using SolidWorks.
  • Analyze designs/drawings/models and systems for compliance to determine additional factors for internal Design Re-Use
  • Work within SolidWorks PDM to transition files through the proper workflows and update data within PDM as required
  • Populate CAD data to the engineering design libraries in a structured manner
  • Assist stakeholders in advancing training material through video or documentation.
  • Assist stakeholders in advancing new technology or systems
  • Assist in the creation of technical content for the central knowledge base.
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Follow design best practices.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and actively participate in group meetings
  • Complete other duties and projects assigned
  • Ensure scheduled milestones are met
  • Notify the appropriate departments if milestones are not projected to be met by expected due dates
  • Create productivity tools using SolidWorks
  • Adhere to the Eclipse Project Operating Policy
  • Maintain good corporate citizen role in support of the Eclipse Corporate Vision
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Eclipse Automation Inc. Conduct Code
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures
  • Foster the development of a culture reflective of the core values of the business

 

What We’re Looking For:

 

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary engineering degree, diploma or equivalent, specializing in robotics & automation, mechanical, systems or mechatronics engineering. 
  • Post-secondary level proficiency in SolidWorks and MS Office
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to establish priorities and work without supervision
  • Knowledge of developing SolidWorks macros and design tools
  • A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Students should be enrolled in a post-secondary academic program requiring a co-op/work term.
