The Role
Wood is currently looking for a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to coordinate the execution of various projects in our Canada Projects Business Unit, with a core focus on LNG Sustaining Capital programs in the Kitimat, British Columbia area. The Projects may include both Green and Brownfield work – and can include Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, and Construction support project types; across the full life cycle project stages; Studies, DBM, FEED, Detailed Design/Execution. Please note this role will work 3 weeks at our site office and 1 week from home.

ResponsibilitiesTypical responsibilities:
- Assigned as a working Lead on projects.
- Act as a discipline focal point as required for Kitimat site office
- Assures compliance with Engineering Procedures and quality control standards
- Interfacing with various engineering disciplines and suppliers.
- Providing input to process for P&ID development
- Specifying, selecting and sizing field instrumentation (Pres/Temp/Flow/Level), Control Valves, on/off valves, relief valves and control devices
- Prepare and review control deliverables such as Control Philosophy, Control Narrative, Cause and Effect diagram, and Control system architecture
- Understanding of Control Systems networks as Fibre Optics
- Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL reviews
- Preparing and checking Instrument Loop diagrams as well as System cabinet design / wiring for Yokogawa Control Systems.
- Reviewing project documents for scope, presentation and technical accuracy.
- Preparing Material Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations and award recommendations for various equipment within instrumentation and controls.
- Support in the development of Control Narratives and Cause and Effect diagrams.
- Preparation and review of various Instrument lists (Index, I/O list, I/O assignments, Load list, etc)
- Understanding of communications and network systems
- Have frequent contact with vendors, and internal staff
- Providing technical support in SAT/FAT’s

Expected:
- Instrumentation Technologist / Bachelors in Science, Engineering from an accredited University or College.
- Minimum of 8+ yrs. Industry experience
- Understanding and familiarity of API, ASME, CSA and ISA codes and directives.
- Experience in the oil and gas sector (LNG) is preferred
- Ability to problem-solve effectively
- Has the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desirable:
- Experience in the use of Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI/Intools) is an asset
- Registration through EGBC is an asset
- Experience with Yokogawa Control systems is an asset
