Groupe STE is hiring a Technicien en automatisation et robotique for a full-time permanent day-shift role based in Sherbrooke, Quebec. The role offers a salary of CAD $80,000 to $90,000 per year depending on experience, flexible hybrid work up to about 20% of working time, and client-site project work.

Mission

The automation technician participates in the design, improvement, modernization, and installation of automated systems. The role is responsible for PLC programming, operator-interface integration, control-panel design, client commissioning, technical support, and optimization of industrial processes with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Design and program automation and robotics systems.
  • Contribute to technical and financial evaluation of project requirements during quoting.
  • Program and configure programmable controllers on multiple platforms, including Rockwell, Siemens, Omron, Schneider, Fanuc, and ABB.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems related to automated systems.
  • Coordinate work to be performed with clients.
  • Provide user training when needed.
  • Participate in modernization of existing production equipment.
  • Perform integration and installation at customer sites.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on the design and improvement of automated solutions.
  • Read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic drawings.

Ideal Experience

  • 5 to 10 years of industrial automation experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Rockwell RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View ME/SE, Siemens TIA Portal, Omron Sysmac, Schneider Unity Pro, and robotics platforms such as Fanuc and ABB.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming languages including ladder, Grafcet, and structured text.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for automated systems.
  • Functional bilingual French/English skills are required or considered an asset by the employer.
  • ASP card is an asset.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside standard office hours for emergencies or project delivery needs.
