Engineer III Controls Primary Responsibilities for the Engineer III: Design and Development: Identify and understand the company’s needs related to control systems. Analyze data to identify areas for improvement. Implement solutions to enhance control system efficiency. Technical Support and Mentorship: Provide technical support to team members. Work with maintenance to remedy breakdowns. System Configuration and Optimization: Configure, standardize, and optimize control systems for equipment and processes.
Define system requirements and participate in system configuration. Act as a liaison between end-users and system developers/OEM’s. Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards. Project Management: Develop and execute projects from start to finish, ensuring successful implementation. Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of control systems. Manage project costs, schedules, and budgets.
Develop business cases where automation and control upgrades can improve the thru-put and costs for a given work center or process. Required for the Engineer III: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field. 5+ years working in the controls and automation industry. Preferred for the Engineer III: Experience in the steel automation industry. Problem-solving. Familiarity with engineering-related software. Knowledge of lean principles. Knowledge of PLC Programming.
Familiarity with Rockwell and Siemens controllers. HMI development is required. Familiarity with Aveva InTouch. AC and DC drive knowledge. Expertise with EtherNet/IP, Industrial Ethernet and Profibus Networks (CAN) is valuable. Knowledge of automated equipment systems, robotics, and material handling is.
