Overview The Controls and Automation Leader provides leadership and project support to the plant’s Engineering and Maintenance team. This position is responsible for designing, programming, repairing, and maintaining programmable logic controller (PLC) systems used within PepsiCo facilities.

This position also provides support to improve productivity and operating performance in the critical areas of health and safety, quality, production, cost, service, employee engagement, and other people/leadership objectives using continuous improvement methodologies. This role and person should be recognized and accessed by the people in the plant as the key resource expert in the Dallas Gatorade facility. Additionally, this role will lead a team of Controls and Automation specialists.

Responsibilities Develop yourself and your team to solve and manage the day-to-day operational issues and reach short-term and long-term performance and career goals. Lead, Manage, Coach and Train others (salaried and hourly) on automation, electric, and controls equipment Diagnoses equipment malfunctions on PLC and electrical systems and makes more complicated repairs or adjustments as needed. May perform preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications.

Understand and support maintenance, repair and improvement of thermal processing equipment including heat exchangers, heat recovery systems and CIP systems. Perform preventative maintenance, program, troubleshoot, and perform repairs on PLC systems, automation devices, controls components, and overall electrical equipment Escalate main projects related to resource conservation for the site to the L08 C&A Sr Leader. Consult on engineering capital projects, such as electrical and controls aspects.

Perform breakdown analysis and oversee or perform general housekeeping Direct activities of outside contractors working on assigned line Enforce GMP, safety, and audit standards May mentor and provide support to less experienced technicians Work independently under limited supervision (self-management) Documentation of work schedule and work tasks completed This position requires continuous work near heat, noise, gas, and chemicals.

The position requires frequent lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending and kneeling The position may require weekend and/or holiday work Compensation and Benefits: The expected compensation range for this position is between $66,900 - $111,950. Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 8% of annual salary paid out annually. Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications 18 years or older Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience required.

Degree preferably in engineering, business, operations management, or similar field – technical background is preferred. 2+ years of manufacturing experience in a consumer products manufacturing operation preferred.

2+ years of experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (e.g., industrial maintenance, computer control systems, etc.) and Electrical Infrastructure (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays, installation, frequency drive, troubleshooting, level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs, etc) Experience with product manuals (e.g., reading and applying knowledge to make repairs). Experience with schematics (e.g., electrical blueprints with switches, starters, maps, relays).

Experience with troubleshooting (e.g., diagnostics, problem solving, etc.).
