About the Role
We are seeking an Electrical Panel Designer to join our engineering team in Reno, Nevada. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to grow their skills in electrical design and panel development. You will produce electrical schematics, panel layouts, and supporting documentation for industrial control systems used for high volume manufacturing test of Generac Home's solar, storage, and interconnect products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings using CAD software.
- Prepare and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and wiring schedules.
- Assist with component selection (breakers, relays, power supplies, etc.) based on project requirements.
- Support engineers during panel assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate documentation and revision control for all design work.
- Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and project managers to ensure designs meet requirements.
- Markup and revise existing drawing sets as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Electrical Engineering Degree with 2 years of experience, or an Associate's degree with 6 years of experience
- Proficiency in CAD software required; EPLAN experience is a plus but not required.
- Basic understanding of electrical wiring principles and control panel design.
- Familiarity with electrical engineering fundamentals (circuit theory, 3-phase power, etc.) is a plus but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- Experience with EPLAN Electric P8 or similar electrical CAD platforms.
- Exposure to industrial standards such as UL508A, NEC, or NFPA.
- Basic familiarity with PLCs, pneumatic systems, or other industrial control devices.
- Background in electrical engineering fundamentals: circuit analysis, 3-phase power, and load calculations.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
