In this role, you’ll oversee project execution from a PLC perspective, championing safety, quality, and efficiency while mentoring and developing the next generation of automation professionals. What you’ll get to do

  • Lead Project Execution: Inspire and guide the team by overseeing all aspects of projects from a PLC programming perspective, ensuring safety, quality, cost, and timing objectives are achieved.
  • Resource Planning: Partner with the PLC Programming manager to strategically assign team members to projects, fostering a clear understanding of the scope of work and shared expectations among the group.
  • Drive Performance: Monitor progress and ensure jobs are completed on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work with internal departments and external partners to meet manpower needs for commissioning, installation, and service support.
  • Mentor and Develop Talent: Empower others through training and guidance, fostering a dynamic and high-performing work environment within the PLC department.
  • Hands-On Programming: Perform PLC logic and programming tasks using AB Control Logix controllers, Rockwell RSLogix 5000, Factory View, Siemens Step 7, Siemens TIA Portal, WinCC Flexible 2007, DNet, Industrial ENet, Profibus, and Profinet.
  • Establish Standards: Develop and implement standard engineering practices and provide thorough documentation upon project completion.
  • Optimize Systems: Ensure all controls and logic programs are efficient, align with customer requirements, and meet Valiant TMS standards.
  • Implement Improvements: Introduce programming enhancements in response to customer changes or evolving manufacturing needs.
  • Communicate Effectively: Foster inspiring communication among all relevant departments throughout the project, from conception to installation.
  • Document Changes: Record all logic updates and coordinate revisions with the controls design team.
  • Travel Support: Travel locally and internationally to customer sites to provide on-site assistance, ensuring successful project execution.

What we are looking for

  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting within a machine-build environment, with experience supporting Ford projects.
  • Education: Completed degree or diploma in Controls or Electrical program.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead both people and projects effectively, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency with Rockwell, Siemens, and other major control platforms, including integration of networked systems and smart devices.
  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Mindset: A proactive, solutions-driven attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and able to obtain the necessary documentation to travel to the United States for work related purposes.
  • Travel Readiness: Willingness and ability to travel (domestic and cross-border) to customer sites.

The expected hourly compensation for this position is $45.00-$50.00. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skillset, or location.
